Optimized for dental technology materials
Bobingen, 03 March 2025 – The Hufschmied Zerspanungssysteme GmbH will be exhibiting its special tools for dental applications at the IDS from March 25 to 29, 2025. The main product highlights at booth L031 in Hall 3.1 of the international dental show will be a solution for aligner production and the Zirkonator, a patented high-performance tool for the production of dental prostheses made of zirconium dioxide.
As a benchmark from Augsburg University of Applied Sciences impressively confirmed, the machining of zirconium dioxide has been made possible by the tool development of Hufschmied significantly improved. The Zirkonator is a roughing and finishing tool that enables finishing directly to the final dimension. Thanks to the patented nanocrystalline diamond coating DIP, it offers a service life that is up to 30 percent longer than conventional tools while maintaining consistently excellent quality. The exceptionally smooth running of the tool allows the reliable machining of preparation edges of up to 0,1 mm.

Further material challenges
Whether zirconium, plastic, nanocomposites, cobalt-chromium, titanium, wax or PEEK – Hufschmied provides a wide range of cutting tools for the often very difficult to machine materials used in dental technology. The tools are also tailored to a large number of machines commonly used in the industry. The second tool in focus is SHARP-LINE 112SH. With this, Hufschmied the optimal solution for the production of aligners or bite splints made of PMMA or PET. An innovative, extremely sharp cutting geometry allows the sensitive transparent materials to be processed without burrs and with almost crystal-clear cutting edges. Since SHARP-LINE 112SH keeps its cutting edge for a very long time, the tool enables efficient and economical aligner production.
