CFRP machining – never again manual reworking
Bobingen, August 18, 2025 – Hufschmied Zerspanungssysteme will be exhibiting at CAMX 9 in Orlando, Florida, from September 11-2025. The Composites and Advanced Materials Expo is the largest and most comprehensive trade fair for composites and advanced materials in North America. At booth B12 of the Orange County Convention Center, Europe's leading manufacturer of material-related tools will primarily showcase solutions for efficient CFRP machining. Hufschmied is also using the trade fair to expand its cooperation with the machine tool manufacturer CMS (stand C76) to the US market.
When machining CFRP, conventional tools repeatedly present challenges such as fraying, delamination, or chipping of the material. With special geometries and coatings, Hufschmied has solved these problems and, with tool series such as FIBER-LINE, HEXACUT and T-REX, offers the best results when milling fiber composite materials: clean cut edges without post-processing.

Cooperation should be expanded
"With CFRP, high-strength carbon fibers alternate with a soft matrix, and machining is further complicated by the different properties of the material, depending on the angle at which the cutting edge engages the fiber. We have tools that can handle these challenges," explains Daniel Sanchez, National Sales Manager at HZS – Hufschmied Tools Corp. "Efficient machining depends on the factors of material, tool, machine, and milling strategy. We advise users on process optimization – sometimes in collaboration with partners. One of these partners in Europe is CMS, and we now want to jointly address customers here in the USA as well."
At the beginning of the year Hufschmied Zerspanungssysteme GmbH and CMS S. p. A. have entered into a groundbreaking technical partnership. At the tool manufacturer’s technology center in Bobingen Since then, we have seen a CMS ARES machine on which, for example, tests are carried out for joint customers to optimize machining processes.
