Bobingen, October 06, 2025 – Hufschmied machining system GmbH will be exhibiting at K 2025, the world's leading trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry, from October 8 to 15, 2025. A self-developed drone will serve as a practical example at booth A93 in Hall 3 of the Düsseldorf Trade Fair Center. A Hyperloop-related joint project with KraussMaffei is also planned. Three tools will be in focus: the 110FPRV "Per Plex," the special tool for acrylic machining, the HC402, a low-heat roughing/finishing tool, and the HC403BDSR "Wolverine," an aluminum roughing tool with exceptionally high chip volume.
The 110FPRV Plexiglas milling cutter features an innovative single-edge geometry and is a combined roughing and finishing tool. Machining polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), or acrylic for short, or Plexiglas after its best-known brand name, is tricky. The reason: As with other thermoplastics or composite materials containing thermoplastics, Plexiglas is constantly at risk of overheating and melting during machining. Hufschmied has developed plastic machining tools with low friction between the tool and workpiece, which dissipate heat through the chip. The 110FPRV also scores points for its extremely smooth operation and the ability to produce crystal-clear surfaces without the need for additional polishing.
For difficult cases
The HC402 double-edged HSC torus milling tool from the Proto-Line, a product family for prototype construction, is another example of a tool that prevents adhesion and melting thanks to its cutting edge geometry and polished chip flutes. It is suitable, among other things, for the gentle, burr-free machining of Dibond panels and enables high-precision machining of glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide.
Aluminum glutton for mold making
The HC403BDSR "Wolverine" solid carbide high-performance roughing cutter, with its extreme material removal rates (3xD full-slot milling), is a veritable "aluminum glutton." The cutting edge with knurled serration is particularly stable thanks to a corner radius, and a special face geometry allows for high ramp angles during plunging. Specially developed for this tool Hufschmied a new coating called "ALX1." Polished chip flutes and central internal cooling ensure optimal chip removal.
