Bobingen, 27 March 2026 – The Hufschmied Zerspanungssysteme GmbH and the HEDS Group GmbH Together, they have created a complete solution for HSC milling in dental laboratories and presented it at the Zahntechnik plus trade fair in Leipzig at the beginning of March. In addition to demonstrating the HEDmill One milling machine, their presentation featured a joint lecture on a new approach to the production of primary telescopes.
HEDS (“High End Digital Smile”), a consortium founded by eight dental laboratories, has developed its own HSC milling machine for dental laboratories, drawing on the tools of Hufschmied Get advice from Hufschmied The supplied special tools for machining zirconium dioxide, plastics, titanium and cobalt-chromium are part of the complete solution HEDmill One presented at the trade fair in Leipzig.
In their joint presentation entitled “Dreo Infernale”, Michael Mödinger, application engineer specializing in dental topics at Hufschmied Leon Felzmann, Managing Director of the HEDS Group, and Benjamin Hesse, Business Development Manager at Follow-Me Technology, presented the concept of turn-milling in the dental laboratory. With the right combination of CAD software, tooling, and machine, turn-milling of primary telescopes offers significant advantages over 5-axis milling. Besides requiring fewer process parameters, turn-milling is a highly stable process with low tool wear. Since machining can be completed in a single pass, machining times are also reduced.
“The collaboration with HEDS is excellent, as was demonstrated again at the trade fair,” says Christel Hufschmied, managing director of the Hufschmied Machining systems. "The best results can be achieved when the machine, tool, and machining strategy are tailored to a specific material. The CNC machine developed by HEDS and the tools we have developed ensure precisely this for dental practice."
