Hufschmied-Technology Day for the 35th Anniversary

Bobingen, July 01, 2026 – With 150 registered guests, the Technology Day on June 18, 2026 at Hufschmied Zerspanungssysteme GmbH The event was extremely well received. Top-class speakers, important partner companies, and impressive project examples formed the cornerstones of an event that offered professional expertise in a warm, family-like atmosphere. HufschmiedFor example, employees provided insights into their innovation and development process in a relaxed panel discussion. The discussion focused on an upcoming graphite machining tool, which the participants of the Technology Day were the first to see in action. In addition to materials and precision machining, the aerospace industry contributed interesting topics for discussion.

The welcome address for Technology Day was a family affair: Managing Director Christel Hufschmied (Center) together with the children Victoria and Matthias Hufschmied.

The fact that the aviation industry, represented by speakers Andreas Gundel from bavAIRia e. V. and Norbert Peer from AIRBUS Infrastructures, was a topic at the HufschmiedThe fact that the technology day was held there is no coincidence. As Sven Blanck, Managing Director of the MAI Carbon Cluster within Composites United e. V., emphasized, the aerospace industry has overtaken the automotive industry as the driving force behind the development and application of fiber-reinforced composites. Tarun Magu and Erich Fries from ExxonMobil presented a current example of material development: Proxxima polyolefin for high-pressure resin transfer molding (HP-RTM) is characterized by low viscosity and rapid curing. A GRP battery tray served as an example of the complex shapes that are possible with this material. This tray was also the subject of the first machining demonstration. HufschmiedThe T-Rex tool with drill tip processed the material without delamination.

Flexible, intelligent production methods

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Kupke, Director of the Institute of Construction Methods and Structural Technology at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), had last year at the HufschmiedHe moderated the Aviation Day. This time, he provided insights into the current "Flextelligent" process development at his institute. The aim is to make the use of robots in the production of large CFRP structural components more efficient. Marco Gruber, Director of Applications & Process Engineering at KraussMaffei, presented an interesting process step reduction: multi-component injection molding with the application of polyurethane coating during the process. This allows for the cost-effective coating of vehicle parts.

Despite the summer heat, the live performances were crowded.

Topic block: Precision

Jan-Christoph Bruhn, Head of Sales EMEA at KUKA, presented the latest advancements in the automation of processes related to friction welding. Friction stir welding (FSW) is a process with many advantages, for which also Hufschmied contributes tools. In the live processing of the precision topic block, a copper and a graphite electrode were created. The latter was finished with a tool that Hufschmied will be presented shortly. Four employees from sales, application engineering and development guided the audience through the innovation process, starting with a customer's optimization potential and economic considerations, through the basic shape and challenges of cutting edge design, to the coating.

Looking back and looking back at the end

The event's motto was "Between Continuity and Change." The final presentation was given by Bernd Beschorner, CCO of MT Aerospace. Using the high demand for satellites, plans for lunar colonization, and the necessary prerequisites, he illustrated the industry's development toward industrialization. Given his company's market penetration with rocket components, Beschorner offered the audience the motto: "The road to the moon leads through Augsburg." As an entertaining conclusion, Mathis Toppmöller, Head of Strategy, Business Development & Product Innovation at [Company Name], conducted an interview. Hufschmied Machining systems, long-serving sales representatives Nabil Khairallah and Ludwig Krammer on the beginnings of international expansion. “This successful technology day was the best way to celebrate our 35th anniversary: with companions, partners and loyal customers. I thank everyone who contributed – to this celebration and to this company success,” says Christel. Hufschmied, managing director of the Hufschmied Zerspanungssysteme GmbHHow well networked are the HufschmiedThe success of the event is evident in the exhibitors who regularly participate. This time they were: Grob, OPEN MIND, Rampf, MAI CARBON, Tebis, VisCheck, ZK, Röders, MHT, Quant, Schüssler, Proxxima, CmS, Rego-Fix, KraussMaffei, SoniCut, bavAIRia and KUKA.

In the end, the speakers received football jerseys.
