PCD tools have their areas of application, for the machining of CFRP better results at lower costs can be achieved with coated carbide tools - as confirmed in the MAI projects. This is especially true with an adapted mold. One example is the T-REX series from Hufschmied. With its variable cutting edge geometry, the T-REX combines the advantages of cutter geometry with the delamination-free trim quality of a compression tool. This results in high abrasion resistance for long tool life.
